Our area of implementation
Iron deficiency is the most common cause of anaemia worldwide. Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) has adverse health consequences for all age groups & is the most widespread nutritional problem in the world today. Iron deficiency has been shown to affect adversely the physical capacity and work performance of adolescents and adults; the cognitive performance, behaviour, and growth of infants, preschool and school children. The below chart shows the areas & the extent of it being affected by anaemia.
As we believe in making a healthier place on this earth for the mankind, so we started to work with the most highly affected nation, India - the place where Prince International was born. The prevalences of anemia among various age groups is summarised from data collected from scattered studies.
| Subject | Anaemia Prevalence(%) |
| Young children (preschoolers) | a. 67 b.46 |
| Young children (school going) | a. 50-90 b.62-90 |
| Adolescent girls | a. 40-60 b.86-95 |
| Pregnant women | a. 62-98 |
| Non-pregnant, Non-lactating women | a. 74-98 |
| Males (Adult) | a. 60-86 |
- As mentioned in Nutritional Anaemia in South East Asia - in Rosa Publication No.5, Page.75 (1977)
- Report of the Five State Survey over National Pilot Programme on Control of Micronutrient Malnutrition (1999). MN - Project
Our first targeted people were the children. These were the words of Gabriel Mistral that inspired us all the way:
Many things we want can wait,
The child cannot wait.
Right now is the time his bones are being formed,
His blood is being made his senses are being developed.
To him we cannot answer -"TOMORROW"
His name is "TODAY"

The banner of Prince International flies in the state of Orissa ,Chhattisgarh, Karnataka in the ICDS (Integrated Child Development Scheme), MDM (Midday meal Programme) SNP (Supplementary Nutrition Programme). These are the school feeding programmes organised by the state Govt. It is through these programmes that the children have a direct access to use the Double Fortified salt which helps to prevent Iron deficiency anaemia & Iodine Deficiency Disorder.
A recent report from the Government of Chhattisgarh indicates the upgradation of the nutritional status of the ICDS beneficiaries after using Fortified salts (iron+iodine) under the Supplementary Nutrition programmes(SNP). The strategy adopted in these states is on :
Take Home Ration (THR) Basis.

Each woman & child under (ICDS) is a beneficiary and takes 500gms of Double Fortified salt packet per month. The dietary allowances of iron according to age groups and physiological status as stated below is recommended by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

PHYSIOLOGY OF IRON ABSORPTION:
A balanced Indian diet with green leafy vegetables contains 12 mg of Iron out of which only 5-10% are absorbed in the body.
Whereas "Health Salt" is having 100% absorption capacity of Iron.
